One of our must-dos while in Amsterdam was to bike to see an iconic Dutch windmill. We didn’t like any of the organized tours offered, so instead figured out our own way to bike to a windmill from Amsterdam!

North Berwick (that’s Berwick with a silent ‘W’) is the perfect coastal escape from city life. It was a recommendation from a local Scott we met while hiking Arthur’s Seat, and we were so happy we took his advice!
Like any proper Scottish town, you’ll find a golf course, castle ruins, and nature to enjoy. But what sets North Berwick apart is the outstanding coastal views and extensive sea life.
Built in the mid 1300s, Tantallon Castle sits on the edge of the sea cliffs just outside North Berwick. It’s a must-do activity to see if you’re visiting this coastal city.
The only problem is that it can prove to be pretty hard to get to if you don’t have a car. I’ll take you through your alternative options: busing and walking.
There are so many day trips from Brussels that it’s become one of my favourite cities to visit. Brussels Belgium is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore both more of Belgium or the surrounding countries, like the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and more! Why Go On Day Trips From Brussels Belgium? It’s …
I was only able to visit Cologne for a day but that was surprisingly enough time to fall head over heels in love with this city. It’s not very big, or even beautiful, but it has a lot of hidden gems and unique characteristics that make it easy to fall for.
Leuven is the perfect mini escape from the big city hustle of Brussels. Despite its small size, there’s a bit of something for everyone to enjoy: history, beer, shopping, and more!
Luxembourg City (in Luxembourg) is one of the only cities with the same name as their country. But the surprises (and fun facts) about this beautiful city don’t stop there. There’s loads of history and out of this world views during a day trip from Brussels to Luxembourg.
Namur is an excellent day trip option from Brussels. It’s only about an hour away, has an accessible train station, and it’s loaded with a rich history. Despite its small size, Namur is actually the capital of Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium.
We visited Budapest in one day from Vienna, so don’t worry if you only have one day to explore the city. Budapest has a lot to offer, from unlimited history, breathtaking views, and thermal baths to relax in!
Salzburg is a perfect day trip from Vienna; it has a walkable city centre and is accessible by train. Despite it being such a small town, it’s actually famous for quite a bit.
Salzburg is where they filmed The Sound of Music and was even home to the original von Trapp family. It’s also the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (you know the very famous classical composer).
