Sundays off was never an issue in other European cities, but because Aix is so small, it seemed like the city shut down for the day. The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a must-see on any South of France vacation. We almost weren’t going to visit the Pont du Gard, but in the end, it was the highlight of our trip. There’s more than just the aqueduct that you can spend a full day here, especially in the summertime!

The South of France in Provence has some of the better driving conditions that we’ve seen on vacation. The roads are wide enough to fit two cars, and they’re well paved. Plus as a bonus, you’re greeted with spectacular road trip views along the way. You can go from driving through mountains and gorges to lavender fields and wineries.
