Top Things To Do In Montreal On Halloween
The top things to do in Montreal on Halloween range on a scale of being able to sleep at night to not being able to go to the bathroom without every single light on! So there’s family friendly and not-so family friendly options in other words.
1. Visit A Haunted House: Malefycia
Now that you’ve outgrown the trick-or-treating scene, doesn’t mean you can’t still go to a haunted house on Halloween. In Montreal, the scariest, spookiest place is Malefycia. It’s seriously horrifying.
Malefycia transforms a space to another world and hire actors to spook the living daylight out of you. It’s so terrifying, you have to sign a waiver before you go inside. And I mean, signing a waiver is always scary!

2. Visit A Haunted Village In Drummondville
But why stop at just a haunted house when you can explore an entire haunted village? La Village D’Antan is a village that’s stuck in the past. It’s really nice to visit during any day of the year, but on Halloween it transforms into the Haunted Village of Drummondville.
Drummondville is an hour and a half drive from Montreal, but it’s worth it. And there’s a separate family section for those looking for less of a fright too.
They even have a themed restaurant where you can dine in horror before enter the haunted village.

3. Have A Real Good Time At Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (show) is a Montreal Halloween classic. Seriously, you can’t call yourself a Montrealer if you’ve never attended this show at least once.
Over Halloween weekend, actors ad lib in front of the live screening of the The Rocky Horror Picture show movie. Dress up, sing along, and do the time wrap again for this truly unique activity!
You’ll have to buy tickets in advance for this show. The show runs the last few days of October and first few days of November, depending on when Halloween falls that year.

4. Attend The Biggest Halloween Party In Montreal @ La Voûte
I’ve been to Halloween parties in Montreal before, and to be honest, they aren’t my cup of tea. But this is the biggest Halloween party in Montreal. So if you go to any, it should be at La Voûte.
La Voûte is a club set in an old bank vault from the 1920s. I mean if that’s not an epic backdrop for a halloween ball, I don’t know what is! Dress up in full costume and get ready for a night of blood and scares!
5. Pick & Carve Your Own Pumpkin
Apple picking is a very popular fall activity in Montreal, but now you can also pick your own pumpkins.
There are a few pumpkin patches near Montreal to pick your own pumpkin. The closest (and most popular) is Quinn Farms in Îles Perôt. This is the ultimate Halloween family activity. Everyone gets to hand pick their own pumpkin before carving it for Halloween!

You can also get a Halloween filled day at Verger Labonte. They have pumpkin picking, a corn maze, and a Halloween Labyrinth (for both young kids and 13+)!
Otherwise, if you just want to stay on the Island, you can always go to Atwater or Jean Talon Markets in Montreal.
6. Get Lost In SOS Labyrinth Blackout Montreal Halloween Edition
If you’re looking for family friendly things to do in Montreal on Halloween look no further than the SOS Labyrinthe in the Old Port. They host a Halloween special event in Montreal during the month of October.

7. Escape An Escape Room – Spooky Montreal Halloween Activities
What’s more terrifying than being trapped in a room with your friends? The only way out is to use your brains (that might actually be scarier!).
A/Maze Escape room has a few locations around Montreal with varying themes that they’re constantly changing! If you’ve done too many escape rooms already, try Prison Island Montreal, a new take on the escape room. It’s made up of 30+ smaller escape games.
If it’s your first time trying an escape room, I recommend starting with the easiest one they have!
8. Attend Candlelight Halloween
Candlelight symphonies are set in the Basilica Notre Dame in Montreal where you listen to an orchestra lit with only candlelight. Every Halloween they play your Halloween favourites. See tickets for Candlelight Halloween.

9. Explore Pumpkinferno
If you’re up for a bit of a drive, you won’t regret visiting Pumpkinferno for Halloween. Upper Canada Village sets up a beautiful art exhibition with pumpkins and lights. It’s truly spectacular!
The only downside is that it’s almost two hours from Montreal and you want to visit at night… so weekend getaway anyone? The positive is that the sun sets earlier in October, around 5:45 by Halloween.

10. Go On A Ghost Tour For A Spooky Montreal Halloween
Think you’re safe on Mont Royal, Griffintown, or in the Old Port? Think again! Discover all the spooky tales of Montreal’s past on Halloween night. I had no idea there are hauntings in some of Montreal’s most popular areas.
Haunted Montreal offers ghost tours on Mont Royal, Downtown, Griffintown, and even virtual tours. Or book a ghost tour of the Old Port through Viator. You can also see more organized ghost tours through Viator.

11. Fright Fest @ La Ronde
Fright Fest is a month long Montreal Halloween festival at La Ronde (Montreal’s amusement park). Starting at the beginning of October, the amusement park is transformed into a nightmarish place after dark.
It’s all fine and dandy when the sun is out, but if you stay past dark, you’re in trouble. As of 6:00 PM the lights turn off and the ghouls comes out… See what else they’re planning for this years Fright Fest at La Ronde.
12. See A Movie At The Spasm Film Montreal Halloween Festival
SPASM is Quebec’s short film festival dedicated to any films that are... how to we say, unique!
The films can be horror, drama, or even a comedy. As long as they’re a bit quirky, they’re in the festival! The films are showcased over Halloween weekend in Montreal.

13. Lune Noir At Parc Jean Drapeau
Parc Jean Drapeau transforms into a haunted space for the last weekend in October.
During the day they have family friendly activities, but only the bravest should venture there at night… They offer both free and paid immersive activities. Find out more information and the schedule for Lunar Night.
Bonus: See A Halloween Classic At The Drive In
It’s always fun snuggling up and watching a halloween classic at home with some candy. But step it up a notch this year and head to a drive in theatre. The Saint Eustache Drive is usually shows free Halloween movies over halloween weekend. See what’s on the big screen this year (but it might be French only!)!
You can also check out Parcours Gouin, they host a halloween special for families which includes showing a film (it will also most likely be in French as well!).

P.S. Need A Place To Stay In Montreal? Hotel Recommendations
I love going on staycations at Hotel Nelligan in the Old Port of Montreal. It’s in a great location, walking distance to everywhere you need to be. When you stay there you can’t miss out on their unique roof top terrace above the hotel. See room rates & availability.
I’ve also stayed at the newly built Homewood Suites in Montreal Midtown (west of the city) and I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for a hotel that isn’t in the city centre. But they also have a branch downtown as well. It has a little kitchenette in every room and breakfast is included. Even though it isn’t downtown, you aren’t far from it. It’s walking distance to the Namur metro station, which will get you downtown in less than 20 minutes. See room rates & availability.
Here are some other alternatives I’ve heard about if you’re looking to stay in Downtown Montreal;
If you’re looking to stay in the heart of Downtown Montreal check out Auberge Les Bons Matins. This is a one of a kind stay perfect for a romantic getaway in Montreal. In this charming inn in Montreal, you’ll get a taste of local life. See room rates & availability.
You can also stay Le Square Phillips Hôtel & Suites if an auberge isn’t your style. Le Square Phillips Hôtel & Suites is in a supreme location in between the orange and the green metro line that get you anywhere else in the city. Breakfast is also included with your stay! See room rates & availability
