How To Make Homemade Potpourri In 5 Easy Steps

Give your flowers a second life instead of throwing them out when they start to droop. Make some homemade potpourri with them instead. It’s a nice decoration item in your house, adds a nice smell, and it’s a super easy DIY.

I’m not lying, I’ve tried so many DIYs on Pinterest and have failed miserably. So take my word for this, if I can do it, so can you! Simply cut off the stems, spray with essential oils, and put them in the oven to dry out.

Psst! This blog post contains affiliate links in it which sends me a bit of extra money if you use them… at no extra cost to you!

How To Make Potpourri – 5 Easy Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 200˚F
  2. Prepare your DIY potpourri mix: Cut off the stems of the flowers or remove the individual petals, and slice citrus. Place everything (flowers, citrus slices, herbs) in a single layer on the baking sheet.

*You can also add fresh lavender, or rosemary, cinnamon depending on what scents you like.

3. In a spray bottle, combine 10-15 drops of essential oil with water and spray your potpourri ingredients. This is the scent of your choice – you can choose a floral, citrusy, or spicy scent.

4. Place your homemade potpourri in oven for at least 2 hours. Check on them and take them out when the flowers are brittle but not burnt.

5. Once you remove your DIY potpourri from the oven, give them another sprits of your essential oil and water mixture before placing it in your favourite bowl for display.

And Voila! That’s how to make easy potpourri as that! Let me know if you tried it and how it turned out!
