Top 9 Barcelona Cafés You Don’t Want To Miss
There’s no shortage of good cafés in Barcelona, but which ones are the best Barcelona cafés to go to? It all depends on what you’re looking for in a café. Are you looking for cute cafés in Barcelona to catch up with friends? The Barcelona café with the best coffee? Or the best Barcelona cafés to work in?
During my month living in Barcelona, I spent a fair share of my time searching for just those cafés. I ended up finding 9 cafés in Barcelona that I would recommend. And there’s something on this list for everyone whether your looking for the best coffee, workspace, or cute A.F. vibes!

Local Tip: What To Order At Barcelona Cafés?
While living in Barcelona, I noticed that a favourite coffee order was an espresso with a bit of milk, A.K.A. an espresso macchiato.
If you want to order it in Barcelona you have to order a tallat (pronounced tayat!) in Catalonian. I always found it hard to pronounce though, so you can order it in Spanish as a Cortado.
And despite everything else being super expensive in the city, the cafés surprisingly aren’t!
P.S. Search for the best coffee in Barcelona by rating each one you try with my coffee tasting journal!

The Best Cafés In Barcelona
1. The Best Coffee & Location: Right Side Coffee
Leave the hustle and bustle of Barcelona behind in you while never actually leave the city centre.
If you need a pick me up after touring the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona go to Satan’s Coffee (now rebranded as Right Side Coffee Bar). It’s the ultimate Barcelona café that gives you an escape from the bustle of the city without ever having to leave the city centre. You can go for a quick coffee break and then get right back to touring!
The only problem… it’s a bit of a maze to get there. Because it’s harder to reach, you’ll also leave all the hoards of tourists behind. You can either sit down and relax with the best coffee in Barcelona, or if you’re pressed for time, walk-up to their take away window outside to order. You’ll want to look for the Right Side Coffee Bar on Carrer de l’Arc.

2. Most Beautiful Café In Barcelona: Palau de la Música Catalana
I know don’t if you’re aware of this, but Barcelona is all about modernist architecture. Gaudí might be the most well-known but there are many others that designed buildings in the city. One of those is the Palau de la Música Catalana designed by Lluís Domènech.
It’s still a concert hall today, but if there’s nothing interesting playing while you’re there you can simply walk in for free to admire the tile work and architecture (but for a behind the scenes look, book a guided tour!). And after your tour, continue to admire your surroundings with a stop at Cafè Palau in the back. Now you can take your time enjoying your surroundings.
An alternative option for a beautiful café in Barcelona that’s a bit more on route is to stop at Gaudi’s Casa Mila on Passeig de Gracià. There’s a café inside called La Pedrera, where you can also admire the architecture. I like Palau de la Música Catalana better because you’re in an equally beautiful building, but you left all the tourists behind.
Pro Tip: Tour inside Palau de la Musica Catalana before or after your stop at the cafe. Either book a guided tour or an admission ticket with an audio guide.

3. Cute Cafés In Barcelona At The Sagrada: Paisano
The Sagrada Familia is one of the top attractions to see in Barcelona. Only problem? It’s way outside the city centre in a local neighbourhood with not much else to do in the area…
So if you’re like me and arrived way before your entry time to the Sagrada Familia, then head to Paisano Café for a coffee break or lunch! In my mind, it’s better to get there early than miss your timed entry, and this way you’re not standing around waiting.
But even if you’re just looking for cute cafés in Barcelona then Paisano has to be on your list to visit. It’s small, quaint, and local!

4. Best Coffee On The Go: Syra Coffee
Syra Coffee lives and breathes coffee! This is the one-stop-shop to pick up a ready-made espresso, or beans to make coffee at home (making a great Barcelona souvenir!). They’ve expanded quite a bit since I’ve been, opening up quite a few shops throughout Barcelona. Now they even have a cafe at the Sagrada Familia.
Most of their cafes don’t have a place to sit, it’s really meant to be an on-the-go coffee stop. In fact, their moto is: Good Coffee To Go.
For my tea lovers, not to worry, they don’t only sell coffee. They also offer matcha lattes and a selection of teas.

5. Best Barcelona Cafés To Work: Seventy
Seventy ins’t exactly a café, but a hotel lobby. Seventy Experience is the hotel lobby that is open to everyone, not just their guests. So it’s become one of the best Barcelona cafés to work.
Not only did they have free (and fast) WiFi but it was an ideal work away environment. The music was never too loud or distracting, it was perfect to concentrate with. It was also a very bright and airy space. You had large windows letting it every bit of sunlight so you never felt like you were missing out on the day. There was also more than enough space to work at, you never felt on top of your neighbour.
It was also a very convenient place to work because it’s open all day… everyday, regardless of the day of the week or holidays( p.s. I noticed most cafés are closed on Mondays in Barcelona, so Seventy became quite the go-to-spot!).
The only annoyance was ordering tea… They would bring it in a large teapot, but only ever fill it up halfway – giving you exactly one cup. Is there anyone on this planet than only ever wants one cup of tea!?
I would ask them to refill it, saying it wasn’t filled, and again, they only filled it up halfway. This is hot water we’re talking about here… stop being so stingy with it! I don’t want to have to ask every 5 minutes.
Seventy is another Gracia Barcelona café, at the end of Passeig de Gràcia. This made it a lot more manageable to work at with a lot less tourists crowding the café.

6. Cute Cafés In Barcelona: ByKate
Still fairly new to the café scene, ByKate was by far the cutest café in Gràcia Barcelona.
ByKate has it all. It’s a great spot to bring friends for brunch, dessert, coffee (or tea). Seriously, it had the cutest decor, teacups friendliest staff, the best cake, and delicious matcha lattes (the coffee was pretty good too!).
It’s also a great Gràcia Barcelona cafe to work in. There are two levels to the café which is good if you want a quiet, more private area to work, you can go upstairs.
Update: Unfortunately ByKate is permanently closed.

7. Local Vibes At Gràcia Barcelona Cafés: Bicioci Bike Café
Not even a 2 minute walk away from ByKate is Bicioci Bike Café. Similar, this Gracia Barcelona café does it all. You can come to Bicioci to enjoy coffee, dessert, brunch, or just to work!
Plus they have the most reasonable price coffee I’ve ever seen. It was cheap but at zero expense to the quality! They had a deal where you can get a coffee and cake, or a coffee and sandwich for no more than €4 (that was in 2019, I wonder if they still have this deal!)! If that’s not a steal I don’t know what is! And there was no set menu you had to follow if you wanted the combo. You had the full range of choices for which coffee, cake, or sandwich you wanted!
The only downside were their hours. They have a sign up saying they close from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., but once we arrived at 3:30 and they were open. So I’m not sure how much they follow that.

8. Hidden Café In Barcelona: La Faborit
You might have walked by Café Faborit in Barcelona several times and never realized it. Café Faborit is hidden inside Casa Amatller so you can’t see it from the street. Casa Amatller is the ‘A’ shaped building next to Casa Batlló (P.S. thinking of visiting Casa Batlló?Read my review first!). Amatller is a chocolate company from the 1800s and it’s still in business today.
Come to Café Faborit for lunch, coffee, or just to buy chocolate goodies. But you can’t leave without trying their hot chocolate! They’re (of course) using Amatller chocolate so it’s no surprise that it’s the best in Barcelona. They oddly serve it with bread though, I was skeptical at first, but it wasn’t the worst.
If you didn’t know, hot chocolate in Spain is a bit different from what we’re used to having in North America. In Spain, it’s so thick you can dip cookies, cake or bread in it, and it isn’t as sweet! You have to Spanish hot chocolate try it at least once while you’re visiting and there’s no better place to try it than at Café Faborit.

9. Nomad Coffee Lab
The only café in Barcelona that I didn’t get to try is Nomad Coffee Lab. It was recommended to us (along with Satan’s Coffee), by our favourite barista at Mana Espresso in Aix-en-Provence.
It’s a bit out of the way, but apparently they brew an amazing cup of coffee.

My travel packing essentials, I always pack in my Travelpro Maxlite 5 Carryon (I prefer the 2-wheeled for more packing space!). To stay organized in my suitcase, I use MEC packing cubes. To save space on medication, I like using these pill organizers. And to make sure I don’t lose any loose belongings, I always have a Go Travel Cary Clip.
To take my best family photos, I use this Joby Gorillapod with remote shutter. This way, no one is left out from travel photos. And I always travel with a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated – I like my Thermoflask because it’s easy to carry and keeps my water cold!
