What To Expect In Every Bruu Tea Subscription Box

Every month you get three 14g bags of ethically sourced and fresh tea. But what sets Bruu tea subscription box a part from other monthly tea clubs is that each box is tailored to your tea preferences.

That means that when you sign up for a Bruu tea subscription box, you get more of a say in what teas not to include in your monthly box (more on that in a bit!).

They say that each box contains enough tea to make about 20 to 40 cups, depending on the tea you select and how many times you re-infuse the teas. It can come to 12 pence cup.
(I think this is a bit of a stretch… expect 20 cups in total I don’t really count re-infusions).

Each tea also comes with a detailed information card with how to make the tea, what’s in it, and why they love it.

Each box will also include some surprises. I got an extra bag of tea to discover (3g bag). This was their tea of the month, it included a large discover card as well with some fun information about the tea. I also got a protein ball snack to try.

This feature is what sets Bruu Gourmet Tea Club a part from other tea subscription boxes. With most tea subscription boxes (like the Atlas Tea Club), you’ll typically have one two choices but that’s it (like if you want caffeinated or not).

But, I’m sure there are flavours that you don’t like in either category. Take me for example – I hate Chai (Gasp! I know!) so I’m always scared that one month I’m going to end up wasting my money and getting a Chai sample. With Bruu tea subscription box, that worry is gone!

Not only can I say that I don’t like Chai, but I can also decide specifically which teas I want or don’t want. Let’s say you love black tea but hate green? Just because it’s caffeinated doesn’t mean they have the same flavours.

Even more than the tea selection, you can also say no to some of the bold flavours that can be in some tea blends. For example, coconut, liquorice, nuts, even gluten …etc.

As a monthly tea club, I LOVE the personalization options. I’m very picky with everything, and tea is no exception.

I Love The Information Card That Tells You About Each Tea

Each box comes with three teas and a card with information about the tea. As with any respectable tea box, this includes all the steeping instructions. On the back, they tell you a bit more about the tea: what is it, why we love it, and where it’s from?

I think it’s great to get a some extra information about the tea, and I really enjoyed reading it.
The downside is that I found it hard to read at times. The text is quite small and they use a black font on brown paper. Sometimes it’s also rubbed out so you miss some letters.

Fits In Your MailBox!

I never thought that this would be a monthly tea club perk but I ended up really appreciating the small size of this subscription box.

The size of the box is really small and is meant to fit through your letterbox. Which is really nice because now you don’t have to worry about a box in front of your door if you’re out all day.

Beautiful Packaging & Design

The effort and attention to detail that’s put into every Bruu box is exquisite. It shipped in a beautifully designed box with simple packaging.

For starters, each tea has their own logo – as a graphic designer I appreciate this! The tea cards are clipped to the tea bags with a mini gold clothespin – adorable! You can tell that there was a lot of effort put in to this.

Budget Friendly British Tea Subscription Box If You’re In The UK

If you’re in the UK, Bruu Tea Club is one of the best British tea subscription boxes you can sign up for. It’s only £10/month with free shipping!

If that’s not a steal I don’t know what is!

If you’re outside the UK it will cost you a bit more… First, for the obvious. You have to, of course, factor in the exchange rate (for us Canadians it can be around $16+/ month). Plus, you don’t get free shipping anymore. They will ship internationally but it will cost around £5 (again there’s the exchange rate to think about).

So now it’s £15 which can be closer to $30CAD/ month.

What I Love A Little Less About Bruu Tea Subscription Box?

The Subscription Box Might Not Be The Best Way To Buy From Bruu

Sure it’s always fun to get a surprise in the mail, but it’s important to realize that you aren’t necessarily saving any money this way. As I mentioned, one of their greatest assets is also their biggest faults.

Because you can buy all the tea separately – in sample sizes – you don’t save any money through their subscription boxes. And it might actually cost you more.

You can buy 14g packages on their website – for £3 each… if I bought 3, that totals £9. If I got the subscription box it costs me £10… Of course it’s a small difference, but wouldn’t you rather have the ability to choose your own tea?

It’s important to note that with the monthly box you also get some surprises included. In my box I got one extra small bag of tea (that’s an extra 3g) and some weird snack that I have no interest in eating.

Warning! There’s No Mention Of Caffeine Levels

If you are caffeine sensitive, I’d be wary of ordering from Bruu. My subscription box included Yerba mate and black tea – both caffeinated teas. Unfortunately, there was no mention of them having any caffeine on their information cards.

Even worse than that, it was written that Yerba mate is an herbal tea. Technically Yerba mate is an herbal tea because it isn’t a part of the Camelia sinensis family but it actually has more caffeine than any Camelia sinsensis tea. And when most people read that it’s an herbal tea they think caffeine free…

I also noticed that Yerba mate isn’t one of the teas that you can opt out of receiving which I would have done as it isn’t my favourite tea.

As a tea subscription box, I LOVE the personalization options. It’s a great way to discover teas, perhaps that you wouldn’t normally buy without the worry of receiving flavours you know you don’t like.

I think if you’re in the UK, Bruu tea subscription box is a no brainer to order. It’s reasonably priced, has free shipping, and sends you delicious personalized teas once a month. For anyone outside of the UK, it’s a bit more of a debate.

Again, I think this will make a lovely tea gift for someone as the production value is spot on! They send a beautiful package, with such attention to detail. I loved opening it up and seeing it all, I mean like how cute are the mini clothespins!? Any tea lover will surely appreciate this!
