How To Use The MyVegas App To Save Money in Las Vegas

The MyVegas App was a lifesaver during my trip to Las Vegas, it’s one of the easiest ways to save money in Las Vegas. I started playing the game a few weeks before vacation and by the time my trip came around, I had racked up enough points to get a few discounts and freebies.

It’s a pretty intuitive game, but there are a few hacks to make the most of your points, and a few things to watch out for. Ready to learn how to play to save!?

How MyVegas Saves You Money?

As soon as you know you’re going to Vegas, download the MyVegas app. MyVegas is part of the Mlife rewards program for many of the casinos, including MGM, Luxor, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, etc. …

The MyVegas app is a virtual slot machine that you play to win more money. But the best part is that you don’t ever have to touch your own money to play. They give you virtual coins to gamble with. 

The longer you play, the more loyalty points you’ll earn to redeem for different rewards. Rewards include (but aren’t limited to) discounts on room rates, Cirque de Soleil tickets, buffets… etc. The possibilities are endless!

MyVegas Slots is a highly addictive phone app. Not only is it fun to gamble and watch the slot machines win, but the app is designed to keep you coming back.

They have hourly and daily bonuses. Now they’ve even added missions every few hours that you’ll want to complete to get more coins.

If you feel like you’ll become overly addicted – please don’t even start playing.

You Don’t Have To Pay To Win

The app wins by getting you to pay for extra coins to gamble with – PLEASE DON’T! I’ve redeemed several awards without ever having to pay a dime for extra coins.

It might take you a bit longer to get there, but at least you never had to invest your own money in it. There are always ways to get more coins for free (whether that’s watching an ad for a minute or waiting an hour for a bonus).

So How Do You Play MyVegas Slots?​

It’s not a very involved game because there’s an option to put it on auto-spin, so you don’t even have to pay attention for the most part. I’d always have it running in the background, like I had a habit to put it on every time I watched TV. 

You have to check it every once in a while depending on the slot machine you choose. There might be times where they give you options to choose from, or you have to spin a wheel. But that’s pretty much it.

There are also two gameplay options to choose from: normal mode and journey mode (update: Journey mode no longer exists… it’s all about joining a club now and different missions).

2023 Update: With the addition of hourly missions, you do you have to a bit more attention to maximize your bets. I’ll go over the strategy that’s worked for me in a bit…

Collecting Coins – The Different Types

The goal of the game is to ultimately collect coins to redeem rewards. You will be ‘gambling’ with purple coins to gain Loyalty Points (white coin with a V – used to be gold coins).

The higher your bet, the more loyalty points you gain – but you might not last as long in the slot machines… see how it’s a bit of a juggling act!?

Normal Mode Gameplay

This is the basic way to play MyVegas, it mimics actually playing the different slot machines in the casino. You choose a (virtual) slot machine and play as you would any other. You can change “machines” when you feel like you need a change. 

NEW! Club Mode

The new way to play to maximize points is to join a club. You’ll do that by clicking on the small avatar on the left side of the screen.

They give you tasks that you have to complete. If you do you get more coins to bet with! You get new missions about every hour.

New! Missions

The MyVegas app has also added missions to the gameplay. Missions last a certain amount of time and then you’ll have a new mission.

When you complete a mission you get more purple coins which you can continue to bet with.

I would stop playing if you’ve completed all yours missions for the day. You really want to maximize how you get free purple coins.

Journey Mode Gameplay – No Longer Exists

I like to play journey mode, it’s a bit more exciting, and you have the chance to earn extra coins. In this mode, you play different slot machines (decided by the app) to complete challenges and make it to the next level. 

The challenges are simple; you have to collect a certain amount of coins, find tiles…etc. which you’d be doing in the regular gameplay mode either way. But now completing the challenge earns you coins.

How Much Should You Bet Each Turn? My Strategy

My strategy was to bet the lowest amount so that my coins would last through several challenges.

This is the slowest way to gain loyalty points. But I found it paid off in the long run because I had more chances to win coins to keep playing.

Update MyVegas app tips: Now with the addition of missions, this is even more true. Sometimes the mission require you to win a certain number of times. It doesn’t matter how much you win, just how many times you win. You’ll have a lot more chances to win if you bet less.

My Favourite MyVegas Slots Machine: Excalibur

I don’t know why, but I find there’s a huge difference between how much I win in the Excalibur slot machine vs. any other one.

I like this slot machine because they have a few ways that I can win a lot with betting less. There’s a boost bonus, royal rose bonus, a pick bonus, and free spins.

The free spins are key! This has given me so many extra purple coins without having to pay for spins.

To maximize by purple coins and wins in this slot machine, I like betting 150 000 or less if I have 5000 purple coins or less. Between 15 000 to 5 000 purple coins I’ll bet 300 000. And anything above 15 000 I’ll bet 750 000. So it’s more involved to keep your eye on how you’re doing, but I find I rarely run out of purple coins with this strategy.

MyVegas App Tips For Playing – Getting More Chips

Make sure that even if you don’t have time to play on any given day that you open the MyVegas app for your daily spin multiplier.

You should also be checking back every two hours for more free coins. This way, when you do have time to play, you’ll have enough coins to gamble with. 

If you want to extend your time on MyVegas slots, you also have the option to watch an ad for 1 million purple chips to bet with. There’s a small video icon in the bottom left corner.

New Addition: Tiers

Along with your daily and hourly bonus, you have the chance to increase your amounts with your tier multiplier.

There are 7 tiers (like levels), and as you play you can increase your tier. This will then give you higher daily and hourly multipliers.

How To Use MyVegas Rewards

I can’t stress enough that when you’re ready to redeem rewards that you read through the instructions for how to, and the terms and conditions. Each reward has different ways to redeem them, requirements, and terms.  

Redeeming a reward can be as simple as paying for it on the app and then receiving a confirmation e-mail.  

Other times I’ve had to go to the Mlife counter to put the reward on my card (and get a card if it’s your first time there). Or I’ve had to redeem it in advance online, this was for Cirque de Soleil tickets which makes sense because I needed to reserve a seat. 

What To Watch Out for When Redeeming Rewards With MyVegas App

There are a few things that you should watch out for when redeeming rewards with the MyVegas App, this is why it’s important to read through the terms and conditions for each reward before confirming. And yes I made all of these mistakes.

The first one to watch out for are blackout dates! Before you buy a reward, double check that the reward can be used on the day you want. For example. you can’t use discount Cirque tickets on the weekend or holidays.

MyVegas App Tips: Redeem Rewards Before Your Vacation

I noticed that the MyVegas App rewards they offer you change based on your location. Most of them disappeared once I arrived in Vegas like the buffets and Cirque tickets. You’re still able to get discounts at different restaurants and free monorail passes!

Another excuse to buy them in advance is that they have a limited number on sale each day (and yes, they do sell out!).

All the rewards also have an expiration date (usually 30 days after it was purchased). So you can keep claimed rewards in your wallet until you want to use them.

So don’t wait to redeem rewards, you want to exchange them before you arrive in Vegas. 

Visiting Las Vegas is truly a special vacation. You want to be able to feel like you’re living up while you’re there without actually breaking the bank. Playing the MyVegas App is one of the easiest ways to do that, but I also found 6 other ways to save money in Las Vegas.

Warning! Stop Playing When You Reach Your Daily Limit

There are actually limits on how many loyalty points you can earn each day. Once you’ve reached that limit, there’s no point in wasting your bets.

You’ll notice when you’ve reached your limit when there’s a green check mark on your loyalty points. If you click on the icon, a new window will pop up. It will tell you how many hours you have to wait until you can start collecting points again.
